Labor Wines

Who’s thirsty for some FREE wine?!?

Hey friends!

Hope that you’re staying cool around the country with this crazy heat, but remember, it is still Summer! Just make sure you drink plenty of water and some wine along the way too.

For those here in Vegas braving the over 100 degree temperatures, I’ve got a treat for you.  We’ve setup another COMPLIMENTARY tasting for you all to come join us – this time, we’ll be at Khoury’s Fine Wine & Spirits, on Thursday, July 19th located at 9915 S. Eastern Avenue here in Las Vegas.  Check them out here for more information.

Khoury’s has supported us since the first vintage and has just added our Pinot Blanc as well.  We will be pouring both wines that evening, which is fantastic!  The tasting is being held from 5:30pm until 8:00pm, so you have plenty of time to make it down and sample the wines.  Look forward to seeing you there, can’t wait to raise a glass together!

If you have a story, pictures enjoying Labor or would like to place an order, feel free and share with us on Facebook or via Twitter.  As well, you can always email me directly, Corey@LaborWines.com or call on cell, 702.466.0987.

EatDrink Tasting at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

This past Saturday afternoon, June 23rd we had a chance to visit with some of our favorite partners here in Las Vegas, The Cosmopolitan Hotel and conduct a tasting in their EatDrink retail shop.  The hotel has been a supporter of ours since the beginning, pouring the Pinot Noir at their stylish and hip, Vesper Bar along with being served at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill and Comme Ca.  With the new vintages, they now have both our Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc at EatDrink, a really cool gourmet store, featuring wines, cheeses and retail items.

The shop had Corey spend the afternoon pouring both of the wines, tasting out some of their regulars and a great collection of some of our Las Vegas supporters.  Check out photos of the event here to see everyone having a great time!  EatDrink’s staff has already invited us back to host another tasting later this Summer and they are thrilled to be partners with us at Labor Wines.

In addition to the next tasting with them, we’ll be visiting with the great folks over at Khoury’s Fine Wine & Spirits in Las Vegas coming up in July – date to be determined, so we will let you all know for sure soon!  We’re also planning a visit to New York City later this Summer, in August and hopefully will be tasting some of our back East friends then too.

If you have a story, pictures enjoying Labor or would like to place an order, feel free and share with us on Facebook or via Twitter.  As well, you can always email me directly, Corey@LaborWines.com or call on cell, 702.466.0987.

Celebrating 50 Years of SR Perrott!

This past Wednesday I had the pleasure to visit Daytona, Florida and our good friends at SR Perrott as they celebrated their 50th anniversary as a distributor with a block party for the community.  SR Perrott was started by Samuel Perrott and his wife, and the Daytona branch is one of the largest MillerCoors distributors in the State of Florida. Not only are they great to work with, they are amazing people; every time I’m around anyone from their company I am always treated with nothing but respect and kindness.  This is a rare trait to find in business. Also, they have added a wine distributorship over the years (who we work with) as well as a modeling agency, Michelle & Group.

While I had been briefed about the anniversary event, I knew it was going to be over the top with surprises to come.  Walking in, I saw not only a gigantic collection of beers represented from Corona to PBR, various non-alcoholic drinks and brands but also local restaurants who had come to serve their signature dishes and show support.  The event was held outside of their facility, encompassing all surrounding parking lots and grassy knoll.  There was an amazing collection of the Michelle & Group, models, including Laura Croft and Shawn Dillon.

When I ventured over to the VIP wine area where I was going to be pouring our just released 2010 Labor Wines Pinot Noir and our 2011 Labor Wines Pinot Blanc, I met up with Sue Barry, SR Perrott’s wine representative and Kelly Turner, a friend who is also a model for the company.  It was a great setup, featuring a nice collection of SR Perrott’s wines; small but appropriate. They also made custom glasses for the wine area, which was a nice touch and appreciated by the guests.

Promptly at 6 pm, the doors were opened and 2,000+ of their closest friends streamed in, sampling each and every beer, enjoying the live music featuring a handful of local bands and a gorgeous spring evening.  In the VIP wine area, we saw a steady flow of guests, some wine connoisseurs, some unfamiliar with the different varietals and wine overall but most importantly, everyone was excited to be there and enjoy a great night.

Later in the night with the crowd well lubricated, the headlining act came on, the Marshall Tucker Band. The 40-year music industry veterans did not disappoint, playing to the crowd and having a blast.  Big congratulations to SR Perrott on 50 years.  Looking forward to your next 50 and celebrating with you for years to come! Thrilled to be a business partner of yours… Can’t wait to be back in Daytona for my next visit.

New Release Wines!

It’s time for some wine!  After selling out of our first vintage (2009 Pinot Noir) extremely quickly, to which we can’t thank each and every one of you enough, we are thrilled to announce the release of TWO wines – both from the Willamette Valley.  Our first white wine, the 2011 Pinot Blanc, is now ready for you to taste and try, and our 2010 Pinot Noir, has just been labeled and is jumping out of the bottle!

The Pinot Blanc is a bright, flavorful white – indicative of the vintage, with great balanced acids and flavors of lemon and Granny Smith apple, along with litchi and Asian pear.  All of the fruit comes from the Yamhill Carlton and Chehalem Mountains AVA’s and we believe that this varietal is a natural pairing for its sibling, Pinot Noir, and flavor-wise is a great complement.   The Pinot Blanc is a great wine to pair with any type of cuisine as it is extremely versatile, especially Asian flavors as it cuts through the spice or just to sip while on your patio in the backyard.  This wine is available to you at $16.00 a bottle, $192.00 a case, plus shipping.

Our Pinot Noir is an extremely balanced wine from the 2010 harvest, with lower sugars and structured acid.  The nose has a slight smokiness to it with red and dark fruits coming through the palate, finishing with some chocolate and plum.  Serve with oysters, roast chicken and halibut, or just have a glass with friends.  The Pinot Noir is $25.00 a bottle, $300.00 a case plus shipping.

The wines are now available for you to purchase and can be shipped starting on Tuesday, April 8th.  Feel free to email, call or contact me directly so I can get your order together for you!

As always, thank you for your support and friendship during our journey of Labor Wines.  Also, we’d love to hear from you – please share your experiences, pictures and adventures with us on Facebook or via Twitter.  As well, you can always email me directly, Corey@LaborWines.com or call on cell, 702.466.0987.

New wines!

Hello friends! I hope that everyone is shaking off the Winter blues and that you can feel Spring coming right around the corner.  Here at Labor Wines we are excited to tell you about our newest releases and yet another first!

This week our 2011 Pinot Blanc is going into the bottle!  This is going to be the first white wine from Labor and we’re only producing 112 cases.  We wanted to keep it small for the first vintage and really focus upon the quality for each of you to enjoy.  For those of you unfamiliar with Pinot Blanc, it is an Alsatian grape varietal that, in Oregon, is best known as a balanced wine with good acid, straight forward as a pairing for the table or by the glass.  The vineyards we sourced from are all located in the Willamette Valley, coming from the Yamhill Carlton District and Chehalem Mountains AVA’s.  We are hoping to release the wine at the beginning of April and it is going to go quick, so make sure you reserve your case today!

Additionally, the 2nd vintage of our Pinot Noir, the 2010, is being labeled at the beginning of April and will be ready mid-April/beginning of May for you to enjoy.  This wine comes from a smaller harvest with lower yields than 2009, showing more red fruit qualities with higher acids and lower sugars.  While ready to drink right away, this is a vintage that will last for years to come and will welcome time in the cellar, if you’d like.  Everyone I have spoken with in Oregon is excited for this vintage, since at the beginning the year started out extremely cool and then gave way to a gorgeous harvest.  We are very happy to be able to share our 2010 with you – for those who haven’t tasted Labor Wines just yet, get ready!

Don’t forget, when you are enjoying a bottle of our wine, make sure to take a picture and share it with us on Facebook or via Twitter.  As well, you can always email me directly, Corey@LaborWines.com or call on cell, 702.466.0987.

Latest Press

So, while I was most recently up in Oregon working on the 2011 Harvest (more coming on that and an update this week), Labor Wines had a nice piece of press, courtesy of our friends at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill in Las Vegas.  The brothers Bromberg, Bruce & Eric, were featured in a piece in Seven Magazine by Max Jacobson, their food writer talking about the restaurant and seasonal changes to the Japanese menu – check out the article here for the story.  Bruce & Eric personal chose Labor Wines 2009 Pinot Noir as a perfect pairing noting, ‘This pinot is earthy but complex, and has a slightly coarse edge that complements the dishes beautifully.’

In Las Vegas, you can currently find the 2009 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir served at Blue Ribbon, By the Glass.   Additionally, if you’re curious to learn about where Labor is going to be served around the country or interested in purchasing our wines directly feel free to contact me via email, Corey@LaborWines.com or on my cell, 702.466.0987, plus you can always reach us via TwitterFacebook.

James Beard Award-winning Chef, Andy Ricker’s Portland Favorites

Came across a great restaurant suggestion list for Portland, Oregon by Andy Ricker – 2011 James Beard Best Chef Winner earlier today via the James Beard Foundation, find it here.  If you’re fortunate to live in PDX or just taking a trip to the Pacific Northwest, do your best to check out some of these spots.  Additionally, make sure you visit one of Chef Ricker’s restaurants, check out his original Pok Pok and then discover the rest!

I can’t wait to head back to Portland and visit some of the restaurants on his list and enjoy the most amazing wings I ever had, which were at Chef Ricker’s Whiskey Soda Lounge – basically the ‘waiting room’ for Pok Pok.

Additionally, if you’re curious to learn about where Labor is going to be served around the country or interested in purchasing our wines directly feel free to contact me via email, Corey@LaborWines.com or on my cell, 702.466.0987, plus you can always reach us via TwitterFacebook.
